课程内容简介：《科学通史》将为不同学术背景的学生营造整体的科学形象，帮助学生全面了解科学的起源和历史发展、思考科学对于现代世界的意义。本课程是入门性的科学史课程，将线索分明地介绍科学发展的全景历史画卷，讲述它如何在希腊诞生，在罗马边缘化，在中世纪被遗忘，在伊斯兰世界被继承，在现代早期的欧洲被复兴和重建，在19世纪被力量化，向全世界传播的历程。
Course Description：General History of Science will create an overall scientific image for students of different academic backgrounds, help students fully understand the origin and historical development of science, and think about the significance of science to the modern world. This course is an introductory course on the history of science. It will clearly introduce the panoramic historical picture of scientific development, telling how it was born in Greece, declined in Rome, forgotten in the Middle Ages, inherited in the Islamic world, revived and rebuilt in early modern Europe, strengthened in the 19th century, and spread to the world.

教学目标：《科学通史》将为来自不同学术背景的学生营造整体的科学形象，在科学与人文之间架起桥梁，帮助学生全面深入地了解科学的历史，思考科学的意义；有效地沟通文理，让文科学生懂得科学思想和科学方法，让理科学生拥有历史意识和批判精神。
预期学习成效：多数同学了解世界科学史的概貌，了解科学发展的社会文化和思想观念背景，开阔眼界，拓宽思路。少数同学对科学史产生特别的兴趣，决定在此专业读研读博。
