讲座摘要:
Now known as the Swire Group 太古集团, the British firm John Swire & Sons began operating in Liverpool in 1816, and in China from 1867. This talk introduces the history of the firm, and its activities, and explores why researching the history of a business over most of two centuries was a productive and stimulating exercise for me as a historian of Britain-China relations.
