课程内容简介：课程介绍现代科学的历史由来和哲学基础。科学史涉及四大起源：希腊科学的起源、近代科学的起源、牛顿物理学的起源和达尔文进化论的起源。科学哲学涉及科学哲学总论、数学哲学、物理学哲学和生物学哲学。 课程由讲座和小班讨论两个环节组成，单周讲座，双周讨论。讲座由科学史与科学哲学两条线索交替进行，由吴国盛和王巍两位教授分别负责。两条线索既互相独立，又遥相呼应。 小班讨论是本课程的特色。授课教授将为每次讲座精选100页左右的课后阅读材料，并且准备若干问题。同学们在阅读文献的基础上，在助教的带领下就问题展开讨论。
Course Description: The course introduces the historical origin and philosophical foundation of modern science. The history of science involves four origins: the origin of Greek science, the origin of modern science, the origin of Newtonian physics and the origin of Darwinian evolution. Philosophy of science involves general philosophy of science, philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of physics and philosophy of biology. Prof. Wu Guosheng and Prof. Wang Wei are responsible for the history of science and the philosophy of science respectively. The two clues are not only independent, but also echo and influence each other. Small class discussion is the feature of this course. The professors will prepare about 100 pages of reading materials and some questions for each lecture. After reading the chosen materials, the students discussed the questions under the guidance of the TA.

教学目标：科学史与科学哲学是科学人文类学科的基础，自然科学与人文学科的桥梁。通过学习科学史与科学哲学，让学生开阔视野、理解现代科学的来 源与本质、理解科学与人文的关系。
预期学习成效：学生通过课堂讲座将对科学的起源、发展和本质有初步了解。通过课后布置的相关阅读材料并组织讨论，培养自主学习、批判性思考的能力。
