教学目的：
中国近现代科技史是一个正在兴起的学术领域，本课程在系统介绍中国近现代科学技术发展进程的基础上，以西学东渐、民国科学与教育体制、当代中国的科学与社会等内容为重点，分专题介绍相关的研究方法，使选课者了解中国近现代科学技术史的基本内容和研究进展，掌握该领域的研究方法，为从事研究中国现代科学技术史或从事科技政策、科学传播和科学社会学等相关研究打下必要的基础。
与同类课程比较：
目前，国外一流大学尚没有同类课程。国内中国科学技术大学科技史系和中国科学院大学科技史系有类似课程，但均以授课老师的研究领域为限，或以科学与政治为重心，或以科学家的社会角色为主要内容，不够全面，也不以研究方法为授课中心。本课程通过西学东渐、现代科研体制和大学制度、科技与国家发展、科学与政治、科学家研究等专题，比较全面地介绍了中国近现代科技史的研究方法，注重于相关的研究理论的运用，史料的收集、使用和解读，研究主题的凝练等问题。教学上，注重案例解读、实例操练和讨论互动，以培养选课者的实际研究能力。
教材：
拟自编讲义。每一次课前提供学习资料，包括一手原始文献和二手研究文献。

中国近现代科技史涵盖自明末西方科学传入中国以来400余年来科学技术在中国科学发展演变的历史，但以近百年为主。本课程通过西学东渐、现代科研体制和大学制度、科技与国家发展、水利工程与铁路工程、科学与政治、科学家研究等专题，比较全面地介绍了中国近现代科技史的研究状况和研究方法。
本课程计划40学时，分14讲，每讲三学时。其中，概论1讲，明清西学东渐2讲，民国时期3讲，中华人民共和国科技史7讲。
英文内容简介：
The history of science and technology history in China covers the periods from the late imperial China to contemporary China. The topics of this course includes the introduction of science in Ming and Qing, the introduction the modern scientific research system and the system of university, and the state and development of science and technology, water conservancy engineering and railway engineering, science and politics, scientists research and etc.. The course introduces the historiography of science and technology in modern China.
This course is planned for 40 hours, divided by 14 lectures, including overview 1, Ming and Qing dynasty 2 lecture, the Republic of China3, and 7 lectures on science and technology of the People's Republic of China.
